My blogging experience

My experience on the blog has been a new challenge for me, because writing in English is not one of my best skills. However, I've been able to post despite the difficulty that this implies for me. The themes of the posts have been interesting, some difficult to think about and elaborate because they are things I had never asked myself, such as the post 9 "A day to remember" or the post 5 "A photograph I like", but I always end up learning new words to use on other occasions and learn to use the website better.

I would like to include in the future issues of social contigency such as the problems around public education, police violence, feminism, specism, migration, childhood, and others. But I would also like to keep the topics that relate to our private life and personal appraisals as has been done so far in the course.

I like to write in the blog, maybe I will end up telling episodes of my life and it will be a draft of the book that one day I would like to write. Also of my professional career, which has been an opening to think critically and see life with another point of view.

Regards!

A day to remember馃樆馃樈

Hi everyone!

A notable day in my life is the arrival of my pet home. It's a cat called Catalina and she's 8 human years old. I remember the date perfectly, it was November 25 the 2010, when she arrived at my house with two months after her birth.

I was 13 years old and Catalina was going to be adopted by my cousin but she couldn't take responsability. That's when I asked my parents if we could adopt her and even though the didn't think the idea seemed like much, they said yes. That day was very special because I didn't have pets and I really wanted to have one to play and receive love in a different way.

Her name was particular because together with my family we didn't want to call her "Pelusa" or "Princesa", but we couldn't think of a name until we looked at the calendar and saw that November 25th was Santa Catalina.

Since that day my cat is already part of my family, I take care of her and I eat her so I can enjoy her company and her purring for a long time.

Regards!

A Subject you enjoy studying this semester

Hi everyone

The subject I enjoy studying this semester in my career is “Subject and Social Movement”.  I always take an interest in everything related to politic and social organization, popular movement and other elements the social conflict specifically in Chile. My teachers are Miss Paula Vidal and Mister Juan Cea, who explain Latin-American theoretical production about these fighting spaces and collective action of the subject and their demands in relation to the context economic, politic, social, cultural and environmental.

Besides, they invited agents of the some Chilean social movement, for example MPL (Movimiento de pobladores/as en Lucha) associated to the right of housing and cooperative movement, environment such as Modatima or Defensor铆a Ambiental, feminism such as Coordinadora 8M, Ancosaludmetro associated to the health, social security such as No m谩s AFP and others.

I’m enjoy studying and reading this subject because allow for think critic about the model socioeconomic and politic in Chile and  the rest of the world, understand the inequality and injustice present in the state action, and look the power in the social movement for the pressure to government to turn.

¡It’s very interesting!

An Expert on your field

Hi everyone!

Resultado de imagen para paula vidalAn important exponent in  social work would be Paula Vidal Molina. In this moment she is coordinator of the Master in Social Work of the Universidad de Chile and Professor of the Department of Social Work as well. I don’t know much about her personal life or her family. I only know that she has three children and lives near the university.

She has written books such as “Las caras del trabajo social en el mundo: Per(e)sistencias bajo el capitalismo tard铆o” and “Trabajo social en Chile: Un siglo de trayectoria” as for example, besides the academic articles about this profession which are very interesting. In addition, she makes conference and presentation from her investigation and professional work in other countries, as Brazil, USA, South Korea and Russia.

Besides admiring her for her work to relation to equality and justice, social work and Marxism, I admire her for her simplicity and humility when delivering her knowledge in classes and other situations. She is an example for the  the social work students.

What is your reference in your field?

Regards.
